BeReal, a social media app that promotes authentic and in the moment photo sharing, has introduced a feature that lets notable people and brands create RealPeople and RealBrand accounts. These official accounts let celebrities and companies share their daily lives with users unfiltered.

This update builds upon BeReal’s RealPeople feed, an area that the platform had been previously experimenting with. Additionally, users also have the opportunity to interact with these official accounts, assuming the role of RealFans.

How It works

Eligible Brands and Celebrities can follow a prompt (pictured above), or fill out an application manually. However,  not everyone will be granted access due to BeReal eligibility criteria.

Celebrities As detailed on the website, the criteria revolves around being "A notable person or brand." according to BeReal. In addition to factors such as prominence in searchers or appearance in multiple news outlets. BeReal is looking for official accounts to have the following criteria:

 1. Authenticity: your account must represent a real individual or brand

2. Uniqueness: Accounts will be limited to an individual or brand

3. Completeness: Your account needs to include a bio and profile photo

4. Technical criteria, such as a two-factor authentication

The initial round of brands and celebrities was revealed during their launch even on February 6th. This feature could set BeReal apart from other platforms, but it could also pave the way for the app to follow in the same path in terms of revenue streams.
